On the morning of March 18, 2024, Professor, Dean of the Business School at the University of Sussex, UK Steven McGuire and May Ye, a senior international official (China region) from the University of Sussex, visited the college for exchange and exchange.
Professor Ma Huimin, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Business, Professor Wang Yufang, Vice Dean of the School of Business, Professor Zhang Weifan and Professor Cai Chang from the School of Business Internationalization Working Group, and Professor Zhao from the International Cooperation and Exchange Office met with Prof. in Conference Room 502 of the School of Business Steven McGuire and his team.
Firstly, the leaders of the business school, Ma Huimin and Wang Yufang, warmly welcomed the visit of the delegation from the University of Sussex and wished for substantial progress in this negotiation. Afterwards, Teacher Zhang Weifan introduced the overall development of the school and the business school. Prof. Steven McGuire introduced the overall situation of the University of Sussex and its business school. Both parties had in-depth exchanges and discussions on cooperation in talent cultivation, teacher training, overseas renowned teachers, student exchange, master's and doctoral training, teacher research, and other aspects, and reached some preliminary cooperation directions, clarifying the intention to sign a cooperation framework agreement.
The University of Sussex is a top research institution in the UK and one of the world's top 100 universities. Since its establishment, the school has produced three Nobel laureates. Many outstanding alumni have emerged, including Ian McEwan (one of the most influential writers in British literature), Mbeki (President of the Republic of South Africa), Carlos Alvarado (President of Costa Rica), and Zhang Xin (co-founder of SOHO China).
After the meeting, both sides expressed their expectation for broader exchanges and cooperation between the two schools in the future.
